About the RA Badminton Club…..

The RA Badminton Club is located at the RA Centre on 2451 Riverside Drive in Ottawa, Ontario, next to the Billings Bridge Mall and Transit Station.

The RA Centre is a multi-sport facility that is open to everyone. There are many indoor and outdoor sports and activities at this location. Racquet sports include badminton (of course), squash, racquet ball, hand ball and tennis (at the Rideau Tennis Club location). Team sports include hockey, curling, volleyball, softball, slo-pitch, soccer, and many others. Other fitness activities include a large LifeFIT centre, fencing, aerobics, judo, pilates and yoga. For more information on all of this, please go to www.RACentre.com

The RA Badminton Club has the only dedicated badminton facility in this region, meaning the space is only used for badminton, from 7 AM to 11 PM daily all year long (well, we do take three days off at Christmas and New Years). Our six courts are considered by many to be the best in North America. We have great hardwood floors (just refinished), green-coloured walls and curtains and great fluorescent lighting for superb visibility, and there are only badminton lines on the floor!

The on-court activities are supervised by Badminton Professional Mike Bitten and Assistant Pro Doris Piché, certified Level 3 coaches who competed for Canada in the 1992 Olympic Games at Barcelona and who are past Commonwealth Games silver medalists. Young or old, competitive or recreational, all players have a place at the RA Badminton Club.

Our activities include morning play, family play, tournaments, singles box ladder, doubles league, Playmaker program, advanced nights, clinics, private, coaching, socials, and Open Play using the Play Board. The RA Badminton Club also boasts one of the top junior programs in Canada. The Badminton Handbook containing a wealth of information about the Club is available from Member Services at the East Desk, or as a PDF file from www.RACentre.com under Sports & Recreation under Badminton. Or you could call Mike Bitten for more information at 613-733-5100 extension 364.

You must be an Association member before you can join the RA Badminton Club. After you purchase an Association Membership, you can also join any other club or activity at the RA. The cost of this membership varies. Please go to www.RACentre.com for additional information, or call RA Member Services at 613-733-5100.
